Entrepreneur Makes History as Black-Owned Franchise Owner, Buys 21 Donatos Pizza Restaurants

Ron Jordan, the CEO and founder of Jordan Hospitality Group, has acquired all 21 Donatos restaurants in the Indianapolis market, making him the largest Black-owned franchise partner for the Columbus, Ohio-based company in its 59-year history.

In his recent acquisition, Jordan partnered with investment firm 22 Ventures, which is led by former NBA All-Star, Olympic gold medalist, and Ohio State University team captain Michael Redd. He said they immediately got along as they both have the same goals to empower Black people.

“We’re on a mission to be one of the exceptional players in experiential dining,” said Jordan, according to a press release. “But it’s more than just building restaurants. We’re creating experiences that thrill our guests. My inspiration to grow to be the best stems from the commitment I made to my grandparents years ago to create generational wealth for my family and future generations of not only [my family], but for the people our company employs. It is especially rewarding to have the opportunity to do this through a company in Donatos that I have loved since childhood.”

Jordan, who is a native of Columbus, Ohio where Donatos is based, said he found the opportunity to grow the brand’s market share among younger customers despite the pandemic. While the family-owned Jordan Hospitality Group maintains its other concepts, Jordan plans to focus more on the newly acquired restaurants.

“We’re definitely going to build new restaurants, and for us, acquisitions are always part of the equation,” he said.
