Christopher Columbus Statue Torn Down and Thrown in Lake by Protesters in Richmond VA
Protesters in Richmond, VA didn’t have time to wait on a formal removal of a Christopher Columbus statue and took matters into their hands. Around 8:30 PM Tuesday, protesters gathered at Bryd Park equipped with rope and pulled the statue down. Soon as the statue fell, protesters began dragging it to the nearest lake and plunging it into the water.
A protester that participated in tearing down the statue said the act wasn’t planned and was more of a build-up from earlier chants of “tear it down.”
