“Be careful who trust, salt and sugar looks the same”
We recently had the opportunity to connect with the Al Papers from up state New York, here’s a quick 1 on 1 check-in with him about his latest.
SM- What’s going Al, what’s one message your hoping to get across to the people right now?
Let the Good Lord do his job, and you do the rest.
SM- Tell us about what you’re currently promoting?
I am currently promoting my new album “Freedom Of Xpression” After, winning my first Syracuse Area Music Awards (SAMMYS) for Best Single Standout track, “Gotta Get It.” off the T.R.A.P (The Mixtape) that was nominated for ‘Artist Mixtape Of The Year’ at the 21ST Annual Southern Entertainment Awards in May that was held at City winery in Atlanta, GA While, there I began working on the ‘FREEDOM OF XPRESSION’ Album experimenting with new sounds, styles, and effects I haven’t done in the past. The (13) tracks I’ve made for this album are the ones that I’ve been the happiest about and cannot wait to share it with my fans.
SM- What are some important values to you when it comes to business?
The values that are important to me in building my business and relationships include trust, integrity, mutual respect, transparency, accountability, reliability, and focus to build open communication to reach the desired goals.
SM- Who was a part of this project that contributed to its success?
I’m so blessed to have my family be a huge part of this album. From the likes of Greezo, Rico Royce, Sean Elliot, Stephytheway, and Dolo1B. Whether songwriting to the vocals, and even the production studios where I recorded tracks for the album. Those, studios are Absstudiosatl, Creativity Evolved Studios Charlotte, NC, Redbrick Recordings Syracuse, NY Studio Square Recordings Long Island City. Special thanks to these amazing producers/engineers Whoizlxst, Alexpgsv, Sal, and Maven Beats, whom I’ve spent 2 years making music with and deepening our friendships.
SM- What is the inspiration behind what you do in your career?
The words of my Mother Sylvia, continues to motivate me. Since, her passing in 2019. She was eighty-one, and this Album wouldn’t be complete without her as the “Intro” track to have listeners feel closer without judgement, but also how they hear the message. “Break the bondage, because it was broken for you” My children inspire me to keep on believing. They’re my greatest source of motivation and gift from God.
SM- What are some other things people can expect from you in the near future?
After the release of my upcoming album people can expect the launch of my $treetfundamentals clothing line that was featured in the first ever Pop Up at Street Game Retail Store in Syracuse, NY early this year. In addition to that, completing My Mother’s Memoir and outreach services to combat gun violence in urban communities statewide.
SM- Why is this so valuable to you? And why now?
With my mother’s passing, I felt like my life was on hold. Some days were better than others. Music became an outlet to express my emotions, anger, hurt, and appreciate for all the sacrifices she made for the Godoy Family. She will forever be my rock! I knew that I had to push through and start living again without her. My mother always wanted me to be happy and follow my dreams no what matter life threw at me. In her loving memory, I have devoted my time and energy towards writing, creating, and enjoying activities with my children and family. All of which has gotten me to this point on my musical journey. Sparking new ideas and sharing experiences
with my audience.
